The New British Invasion

I can't believe I didn't write about this first because it has been a CONSTANT and very VOCAL opinion of mine for quite some time now.  Why in a country of 300 million can we not find Americans to host, judge or conduct our competition, talk and/or awards shows?  For example, look at the judges on Dancing with the Stars and America's Got Talent-two of three are British!  Until recently you had Simon on American Idol.  Piers Morgan was given the time slot on CNN to replace the retiring Larry King and Ricky Gervais* hosted the Golden Globes the other night! We've had the BBC all over PBS and NPR for years as narrators, commentators and "experts" regarding our own history and politics!!!

Come on Americans, our country was built on a "can-do" attitude and who should know ourselves better?!  Now get off your asses, or go read, listen and experience AMERICA so we won't have to constantly be judged by outsiders...

*Funny thing is that Ricky's terrific British sense of humor and candor at the 2011 Golden Globes may be the thing and may keep more British away.  This is brilliant and what I wish would be more accepting in American media-blunt honesty and rawness!!! These are jokes people...jokes!  You are only bothered by them because they might be true, ARE true or "not nice".  Blow it out yer tweet!

Thursday, January 6, 2011 Wonder

Party Girl wonders why ALL cars do not have the blinking brake lights meaning slow down and the solid brake lights for stop.  This isn't a luxury innovation, just a simple programming and rewiring of the brake light system.  All cars have computer systems/boxes now so what's the issue?

On a side note, is there a way to be able to determine externally how fast/slow another vehicle is traveling?  It would certainly help identify those who are literally not traveling at your speed.  Anyone?

Party Girl's Thought for Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Seriously?  See where they have to go JUST TO ADVERSTISE?!
Today's thought is more of a rhetorical one, but I still haven't figured out WHY companies that make personal hygiene and/or sexual products spend any significant amount of money on advertising or marketing.  Commercials, magazine ads and online pop-ups about douche, FDS spray, tickler condoms and maxi-pads or tampons have, and I am almost positive will never have, any significant impact on which items I buy.  My mother/family, own experiences, friends, in-store and/or product information on packaging (in that order) play more than 95% into my purchasing choices than anything else.  I would rather they put those dollars to better use with higher worker wages, contributions to overall environment health & safety and/or charitable contributions.
At least ad & marketing people have some jobs in this market?
Look, it was like a prescription anyway... Put IN YOUR MEDS!

Party Girl's Thought of the Day: Inaugural Post

Rarely an hour, much less a day, goes by that I don't have some thought, opinion or idea that I (and I stress I) think, feel, see as more rational, problem-solving and/or true than what exists. To that, instead of keeping these musings to myself (and often forgetting them not long after I think/say them), I am going to start sharing them with THE WORLD! Hope you enjoy; feel free to comment.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011: "Chill music" is simply comprised of songs that did not reach their musical potential. (No one really likes to fail...)
